LESS CHEMICALS

Thanks for showing interest in chemicals!

Dr. Denim measures the environmental impact of products based on scientific data found on the Higg™ platform.

Dr. Denim flags a product as sustainable provided we have checked certification of the fabric supplier either for OEKO-TEX standard 100®, BlueSign® or if the fabric is undyed. If the product is labeled with the less chemicals logo either digitally or on the paper label, it means it qualifies according to these criteria.

Based on the five impact areas measured according to the Higg™ materials sustainability index:

Global Warming

Eutrophication

Water Scarcity

Resource depletion/Fossil Fuels

Chemistry

Undyed products, such as our ”loom-state” or ”ecru” which are both available in several styles are tecnically loom-state products, where loom-state means that the fabric has been used straight off the loom without any dyeing processes. According to the Higg™ data, the greatest chemical impact during fabric formation occurs during the dyeing stage, so it follows that undyed products have less impact than dyed products – all other things being equal. Loom-state products are recognizable by the clearly visible cotton seeds, which appear as fine black spots and are therefore one of our favourite sustainable choices.
